The Shem HaMephorash — the 72-fold name of God derived from three consecutive verses of Exodus — is one of the most complete maps of divine emanation in Western esoteric tradition. Ubuntu Village’s Angelology Series reads it through a different lens: African cosmology first. Before each angel receives their Kabbalistic name, the African or Afro-diasporic tradition that holds the same principle is honored. The orisha, the ancestral understanding, the community wisdom — these come first. The convergence is what makes the series what it is.
The 72 angels of the Shem HaMephorash are organized into nine choirs, each governed by an archangel, each covering a distinct domain of human and divine experience. This series will work through all 72 — in canonical order, one at a time, as each post is built. Posts already live are linked below. Posts not yet written appear as placeholders, so the map is always visible, even before the territory is fully explored.

Not every angelic figure the series has covered belongs to the 72-name Shem HaMephorash sequence. Archangels govern the choirs but stand outside the 72. Gadiel and Songael appear in broader Kabbalistic and grimoire traditions. All are part of the Ubuntu Village Angelology Series.
