Empowering Communities Through Solar Energy
Welcome to Ubuntu Village. We are thrilled to introduce our Solar Power Initiative, which will provide sustainable energy solutions to 50 families in our community. This initiative not only aims to reduce our carbon footprint but also to create jobs, improve public health, and foster economic growth through renewable energy.
About Ubuntu Village
Ubuntu Village Inc. is an African-led nonprofit empowering youth and families in Kenya and Uganda to build thriving, resilient communities through education, skills development, and access to essential resources. Founded in 2016, Ubuntu Village is rooted in the values of community, collaboration, and self-determination, guided by the principle of “Ubuntu”—our shared humanity and the strength of community bonds.
- Mission: Empower youth and families to drive sustainable change.
- Key Programs: Youth empowerment, family support, and sustainable solutions (including solar energy).
- Impact: 50 families supported (approximately 300 people), 10 local youth to be trained as solar technicians.
- Leadership: Diverse, community-based board and staff.
Why Solar Power?
Solar energy is a clean, renewable resource that can significantly decrease our reliance on fossil fuels.
By transitioning to solar power, we can combat climate change, lower energy costs for families, and create a healthier environment. Our initiative aligns with our mission to implement practical solutions that benefit both our community and the planet.
